Temple Sholom

AUXILIARIES OF TEMPLE SHOLOM

Each of our auxiliaries provides an opportunity for fellowship and service to the congregation, as well as programming aimed for particular interests.

Sisterhood

Temple Sholom’s Sisterhood is made up of women who are committed to enhancing many areas of our synagogue. Sisterhood arranges for Shabbat evening candlelighters, sponsors our Oneg Shabbat receptions and beautifies our Sanctuary with flowers for the High Holy Days. They also sponsor the Annual Chanukah Dinner and coordinate the Quinquennial Marriage Reconsecration Service.  The monthly Rosh Chodesh group meets at women’s homes throughout the year for fellowship and study. The Sisterhood Gift Shop has a beautiful selection of Judaica as well as personalized invitations that are available at a discounted price.

Brotherhood

Temple Sholom Brotherhood provides programs, and get togethers especially geared for “the guys”. In addition, the Brotherhood provides many services for the the Congregation including: High Holy Day ushers, Christmas and Easter Mitzvah Programs. Brotherhood also builds the synagogue’s sukkah each year and presents gift to our Bnai Mitzvah, Confirmands and High School Graduates.

  • Twenty/Thirty Somethings Community:  This fun group meets monthly for many different types of programming.  Often the group meets for dinner at a recommended restaurant and some other activity: a movie, bowling, theater, a night on the town, etc.  This is a wonderful community of single and married people who are looking to meet new Jewish friends and strengthen the bonds with old ones.  We would love to see you at our next event!

  • Tot Shabbat / Young Families Community: This is a great community for younger Jewish families looking to meet and become friends with other young Jewish families.  The programming consists of “Tot Shabbat,” which is a VERY interactive Shabbat experience for kids ages 0 – 7 and their families.  There will also be fun family activities planned away from the synagogue, like apple picking, family picnics, and much much more.  Interfaith families are warmly welcomed.  We would love to see you and your family at our next event!

  • Keshet: Cincinnati’s Gay / Lesbian Jewish Community:  Keshet does all types of programming from picnics, to happy hours, to seminars, worship services, participation in the Cincinnati Pride March, and much more.  We had more than one hundred members and allies attend our Keshet Pride Shabbat Service last year, and are excited about our momentum.  We would love to see you at our next event!

Kehilat Atid of Temple Sholom is subsidized by a S.E.E.D. grant from the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati.

YGOTS  (Youth Group of Temple Sholom)

The Youth Group provides an opportunity for high school students to come together to share in Jewish cultural, religious and social activities. YGOTS gives our teens a chance to express their Judaism through learning, fun and a feeling of community.

Through involvement in YGOTS, high school youth have an opportunity to join Jewish youth across the Midwest to share in Judaic experiences at region events. Members of YGOTS attend NFTY conventions and programs in Israel. YGOTS provides a great chance for High School students to become involved in the young Jewish community.
